What the Christian Bible teaches
here is one of the more bizarre passages from the bible.
Mat 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from [their] mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive [it], let him receive [it].

I agree that it doesn't make much sense, but it was also partially the basis for the Catholic clergy being celebate.
A proper reading of the passage says that some men were born without the ability to have sex, some were castrated by society, and some have become celebate (in effect, a eunich) in order to be closer to God.
The final line is that if you are able to be celebate as a devotion to God, then you should be.
Most religions have orders of clergy or monks that are celebate.
